Forest Certification in North America – Lessons learnt for Australian forest managers

Over nine million hectares of Australia’s 164 million hectares of forest is certified to either the Australian Forest Certification Scheme (AFCS) or the Forest Stewardship Council (FCS) forest management certification scheme.
The certification process in Australia has found that there has been considerable opportunity for improvement in stakeholder engagement and communication processes among forest managers.
International findings have been similar.
