The Steve
Stevenson Memorial Trust sponsors students
The
Gottstein Trust commenced a new initiative with The Steve Stevenson Memorial
Trust Fund (SSMT) in late 2019 especially to enable university
students to attend courses alongside people from the industry. Since 2020 the SSMT provides a fully funded place for one university student to
participate in each Gottstein Trust course.
The
opportunity to have this sponsored student place is rotated to a different
university each year. Over time this means that students from all over
Australia will have opportunities to apply.
The 2025 Understanding Wood Science course included one student place studying at Melbourne University, Victoria.
The 2024 Understanding Forest Science course included two students studying at Southern Cross University, NSW.
The 2023 Understanding Forest Science course included one student place studying at Curtin University, Western Australia.
The 2022 Understanding Wood Science included three student places for students from the Australian National University, Southern Cross University in northern NSW and Sunshine Coast University.
The Gottstein Trust team liaises with each
university to make this opportunity known to their students. A short application process is conducted with the selection of each student awarded a
sponsored place in the Gottstein Course being carried out by the Steve
Stevenson Memorial Trust Fund.
