Friday
5th May 2023 is the closing date to apply and be considered for a 2023
Gottstein Trust capacity building grant.
All
industry personnel are invited to consider applying.
“It’s
important that HR managers, small business owners, executives and operations
managers bring this great opportunity to the attention of their personnel,” said chair of the Gottstein Trust, Suzette Weeding.
The grants
are available for individuals working in, studying in or associated with, the
Australian forestry products sector.
There are
three types of grants. Skill Development Support has no set
pre-requisites and is open to anyone who wants to build their skills and is
working at any level; the Gottstein Fellowship generally supports
early to mid-career individuals to undertake a specific project that they
believe will benefit the industry; and the Scholarship is for TAFE and
University students.
The Trust
has awarded over $1.4 million in grants made to individuals and every year
opens up new opportunities for people and the industry to benefit.
“Some Gottstein
grant award recipients have said that the Gottstein Trust funding turned out to
be career and even life changing,” Ms Weeding said.
“For everyone it’s a really good opportunity
to pursue skills and knowledge that may boost their capacity and career.”
2019
Fellowship recipient Harry Mills found his experience “immensely helpful”. He’s
urged anyone with an idea in mind to develop a proposal and apply. He is a
young Australian architectural designer working in a research role at the
University of Cambridge, UK. The Gottstein fellowship enabled him to do an
international project about making the most of underutilised timber and
therefore supporting a circular economy. Harry is doing his PhD at the Future
Timber Hub in association with the School of Civil Engineering at the
University of Queensland. His report and others can be downloaded here.
