World Conference on Timber Engineering - rare opportunity

24 February 2025

A unique opportunity has been unveiled with The Gottstein Trust offering six fully paid conference places at the upcoming  World Conference on Timber Engineering (WCTE), being held in Brisbane in late June 2025.

These conference scholarships are made available for Australian engineers in the early stage of their professional career.

The WCTE is the world's leading scientific forum for speakers to deliver the latest technical and architectural developments and innovations in timber construction. The Gottstein Trust is delighted to support the significant global conference as it comes to Australia, and expects that competition for the six WCTE Gottstein scholarships will be strong.

The international conference organising committee is led by Professor Keith Crews. He is prominent as a timber research leader and Director of the Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Research Hub to Advance Timber in Australia’s Built Environment, hosted at the University of Queensland. A specialist in research and design of large scale timber structures he's internationally recognised as an expert on Sustainable Infrastructure. Keith was a Gottstein Fellow in 1990 and is a valued contributor to the Gottstein Understanding Wood Science course.

Potential candidates are encouraged not to miss this exciting capacity building opportunity. The conference sessions will offer a rich learning experience. The cherry on top is the chance to meet and build a global network of timber engineering researchers and industry professionals - which rarely presents onshore.

Further details are with the application form. Applications will close at midnight on March 30th and can be lodged anytime before then, through the online form. Queries can be directed to team@gottsteintrust.org
